Marc's Voice

building the open web one bit at a time

All Knowledge + People + Commerce = real-time

The ramifications of having all this stuff at our finger tips is pretty dam overwhelming.

Each person’s journey through their on-line digital lives and the various personae under which they operate and interact on the  web - is what the tool we’re working on - is all about.

Keeping your personae separate is important, but so is being able to Cut, Copy, Paste and Edit between them - as well.  Controlling who sees what, when and under what circumstances is also key.

What if there was a general purpose tool out there that did for our world today, what Director and Photoshop did for multimedia?

I’m obsessed with why tagging has not taken off.  What is the killer app of tagging?  Unless humans can see the  benefits of tagging and categorizing their content, they’ll never do it.  Shouldn’t we have have our own personal knowledge bases?

What if there were a whole SLEW of solutions, experiences, new kinds of synchronization, new kinds of digital lifestyles enabled - with tagging?

We all know it’s coming, it’s just not clear how or when.

We’ve certainly (collectively) dropped the ball on tagging. But maybe having the ‘Director of web services‘ would change that?
