After the first day of the Hessler St Fair - we jumped down to D.C. to go to a party at Steve Case’s house.
Lots of old friends were there. Even true Internet pioneers who have helped create the open web .
The mainstream AOL cronies were all there - as well as bodies dating back to Prodigy, Compuserve and Quantum Link.
The party was the celebrate the 25 year anniversary of teh founding of AOL.

In the raging social networking wars - there remains one constant - the open web.
Starting today at the Computer History Museum is the 10th IIW (Internet Identity Workshop.)
Among topics being discussed will be the Salmon protocol for aggregating comments (I sure hope Disqus supports this )
the on-going growth of Laconica and Status.net
and OpenID Connect - written by nobody less than David Recordon - who is now working at Facebook - but who continues to fight for the rights of US! FactoryJoe gives a great analysis of OpenID Connect.
Congrats to all the dudesses and dudes - out in Cali! I’m bringing the fight to middle America!

For about four years I went around pitching folks on a new kind of tool - which I called a “Persona Editor “. As I was leaving Silly Valley I went to Google and disclosed - publicly - what the design was.
However that video did not make it into the Google memory banks and was not considered a Google Tech talk until recently. The challenge we have with a tool like this is that we need a critical mass of ALL services, tools and web sites to have two-way APIs for it to work. So it’ll be a while before this tool’s time has arrived.
So that’s why I just gave away the ideas……….
So for your viewing pleasure:
