Its nice to see Rafat Ali see through the Ning hype. No one has ever asked if they’re profitable! And just because you can raise $119M and provide 2.3M networks - doesn’t mean that’s a good thing. It’s what you do WITH that position. Many people call their Ning networks - simply “Nings”. I love that. But I’ve also asked (publicly) that Ning release analytical data so we can study the phenomena of vertical niche social networks. They’ve got the data we call WANT! And they need to truly open up. Many networks wish to LEAVE Ning - and they can’t!
I’ve always felt that Metcalfe’s Law was taken at face value. Quality over Quantity - I always say!
