building the open web one bit at a time

2nd week of March ‘09 blogging

The Guardian’s Open platform (brought to us by Matt MacAllister) is open, but comes with ads. Jeff Jarvis has an interesting piece - pointing out that APIs are the new distribution channel, but what he DOESN’T deal with is that the Guardian is inserting ads - which seems logical.  The NYTimes does as well.  But why should I build software which makes money for the Guraidan?  What about ME? Somebody has.

R.I.P. Newspapers

Fucking Dan Lyons - who blogging - even though he said was giving up blogging - is using the F word when complaining about bloggers blogging.  Now - there’s one great reason why he should keep blogging. Newsweek would never let him say Fuck.

Talk about a guy who’s got his job cut out for him. Good luck to Vivek Kundra!

I’ll never forget being introduced to Ryze by Phil Wolff. ‘It’s private email” he said.  Turns out he was right.
