Marc's Voice

building the open web one bit at a time

Beginning of March ‘09 blogging

A new era in television arrived last night - when Late Night with Jimmy Fallon premiered and went live - on both the web and TV. Now the question is how “fun sell”, “a blog for TV” and “farm team for the show” do in the on-line world. This blurring of the edges between mainstream and on-line continues, as does the ever innovative space of cyberspace meetings meatspace.

This is the Gillmor Gang episode where Jason Calacanis shows his true slimey colors and acts - well - like Jason Calancanis.  Don’t miss this episode. I get to tell Jason - where to put it.

A true Bollywood tale

This is the kind of incentive promotions and “direct cash to bloggers” approach I think will become a major busienss model - of the future.  Ideally brands like Sprint would be willing to pay these $100 referral fees to ANY network member, and the network can insert itself in teh middle of this transaction - and get their cut.

Episode #30 = “Behind Facebook’s New Governance Model”

Tee Hee Hee - Facebook is gonna keep pushing the envelope - this week.

Congrats to David Recordon for being named the #2 standard for Facebook profile photo styles!  I’m #30.

Now if we had persona editors and ways of both keeping our personae separate and yet - manage them all together in one place - Chris Messina could be FactoryJoe - AND - Chris Messina.

SuperBowl Ads still work - especially if the web service being offered - rocks!

I can’t wait for the secret Twitter business model!

Arrington is back and hopefully now sees that software is the new rock and roll.

Is Michael Arrington mis-reporting on purpose?

Seriously extreme gaming chipsets from NVidia for notebooks.

Top 10 paying Tech companies.

YiiD - is another user based search results cleaned up service - starting off in Germany - but looking for otehrs ot help - around the world.

Amazon VOD coming - and Reuters VOD is coming - now things are getting interesting!

Lala rising

H-P’s mark Hurd has really turned that company around - picking up the pieces left behind by ‘her’.

Pitching the future always works - and Microsoft is building it

  1. The year is 2009 not 2008.

  3. BTW, I think Arrington got that Flock story wrong on purpose. Not like it would have been hard to fact-check that one.

Also, I don’t mind splitting my personality, but it’s certainly not convenient. Then again, it’s the perfect excuse to re-reinvent myself! ;)

Marc, just wanted to say that this is a great blog with good links. I don’t remember how I found it and why I subscribed to it, but I’m happy I did. :) Thanks.
