Rainy Sunday blogging in Feb. ‘09
We did a really good Gillmor Gang yesterday discussing Twitter being worth a lot less than it was.
Others agree that if Facebook WANTED to kill Twitter they could, but that’s not what this is about.
Software is NOT about making money, it’s about changing the world. The money is a by-product. Keep that straight and everything will be fine. However (by defition) that means you’ll never get any VC money.
Open note to Dave Winer - trust me, David Recordon, Chris Messina and Joseph Smarr - OpenID will be the same after the Facebook design confab next week. That said - I do agree with you that there should be ‘open’ meetings - so I left a comment on your blog which suggests having TWO events - the current planned semi-closed design event (roll up your sleeves and solve some of these conunundrum issues) and a larger (more like a summit) one a week or two later. Kaliya should run that. It shouldn’t be an unconference - ’cause I think there should be very specific things to talk about - but it should be open for the community to attend.
I have over 15 years of emails and contacts I want to import into GMail. I’m stoked!
Its great to see people grokking that the NYTimes has to become a platform to survive.
I think timelines are important. Great to see one that will work with Google spreadsheets.
