Status report: still no resolve between Facebook and Google - yet

Steve Gillmor reports from the SuperNova conference where Facebook and Google were on the same panel together - disgreeing on whether or not the Google Friend Connect service meets Facebook’s criterria for privacy controls.

Apparently a compromise/resolve has not been worked out - yet.

At the end of his post, Steve interviews David Recordon - of SixApart who makes it clear that the community (that’s us) really wants to see Facebook and Google work together.

We (BBM) are ready to plug in both Google Friend Connect and whatever Facebook come sup with - cause that’s what our customers  - want.  we’ll also support the Soical Graph APIs, Plaxo, MS Live Contacts and anything MySpace comes up with.

The time has come for us techies to provide our customers the ability to move their data around and use our social graphs to invite folks into NEW services.  This is what my proposed Our Data server is all about.

Its nice to see Kevin Werbach putting on panels like this.
