Kickapps and Clearsring sitting in a tree, k-i-ss-ing. From the Mashable coverage:
What’s happening is a combination of widgets and social networks, which pushes widgets as a fully integrated advertising solution, as well as a channel for content distribution. Such a piecemeal approach has been in development for some time, especially as experimentation with widgets and their potential for advertising has emerged these past couple of years, and open platforms enable a highly integrated approach for third party integration and the insertion of accessible content and ads.
Dare Obasanjo puts Joel Spolsky in his place. Dare points out that Hailstorm was years ahead of itself and the big problem was the folks just didn’t trust Microsoft. But now many of Hailstorm’s architect work for Google and guess what? So it’s all about Live Mesh now. Better timed, we have other fall guys to be paranoid about and afterall - Microsoft has the cash and where with all - to weather out the nuclear winter.
It seems that the new Apple iPhone is loaded with features. Oh goodey and entirely new generation of people can experience Apple’s unique “customer service”, feel-good aura and decidedly Silicon Valley attitude. Good luck folks.
Once again Apple has scammed people into thinking they invented 3G or GPS. It’s not that Apple is so bad, it’s that all the other mobile carriers and handset vendors are just so dam clueless. It takes Apple to come in and do it right. This is exactly what happened with the iPod and iTunes. And with the original GUI and the Mac. They don’t invent technologies, they just figure out how to deploy them correctly; combining hardware, software and services.
At least some folks aren’t fooled. And have figured out Apple’s game.
Speaking of widgets, Userplane now works with Drupal, Wordpress, etc.
