David Recordon asks “what are YOU doing to support the open web?”
Meanwhile Chris Messina has written up what it’s gonna take to create a standard for contact schemas. Right on to Chris - again. He’s building on his original work on AXshema - for the Attribute Exchange. Chris also brings up the importance of bi-directional protocols (which I call two-way APIs.) It’s clear that Chris’ schema is part of the PortableContacts effort that Joseph Smarr, Eran Hammer-Lahav and Ben Metcalfe are thinking about.
Looks like Time magazine agrees with us - or will agree - when the story runs.
What is wrong with these people? This is so sick. How can a voter who rooted for Hillary Clinton ever THINK about voting for McClain? This is what makes America so sick.
Eran Hammer-Lahav says is plainly, succinctly and to the point - there really is a difference between ideals of what we want to see happen - and what is going on with DataPortability.org. He is recommending that Yahoo no longer participate in said disfunctional organization. If Eran had been at the Data Sharing Workshop he would have seen the obvious disconnect and disfunctionality of the DataPortability.org head. Valleywag wrote a bit about it. When we did the Data Sharing Summit - some members of the DataPortability.org group were great and constructive, etc. - while others (the head) kept promoting their own standards - via a very obvious self motivated incentive. Well that’s gotta stop. Either APML is taken OFF the list of so-called standards (as it’s nobody’s standard but Faraday’s) or else further migration AWAY from Dataportability.org will continue. People can leave just as easily as they can join. Maybe certain people will get a clue now. Maybe not.
Cluster fucks like this Verizon social network - need to go away. Thank goodness this one - is. I wonder which white label social networking vendor built this travesty? I bet we never find out. I can’t find one person’s profile page or face - anywhere! Or any mention of any people.
Good to see somebody standing up to T-W
Does this guy look happy? He should - he’s heading to martydom.
What are the odds that we’ll have a coalesced HTML standard - ever?
Add PeopleAggregator to the list of social networks which will be DiSO compatible - for sure!
I see the Taramosalata - but no Saganaki! Ooopah! Maybe you guys need to go join Portokalada.com now.
Dare Obasanjo has been doing some fun stuff with his personal aggregator project RSS Bandit. The new version is looking good! Looks like I’ll have to try it out! It appears to be aggregating aggregators.
I always liked Tori Amos - here’s what she said recently:
In a statement on her Web site, Amos said she looked forward to crossing into “the new unchartered Music Frontier,” where the impossible will soon become possible.
“Artists need not fear structure, we just have to design and partner with expansive ideas,” she said. “It is time for us as artists to stop being dependent, dependent on any system that has become undependable. Only then can we help to create a new system that propagates and secures independence for each creator.”
Go grrrrl
Artlog, QBox, Tarantula, Youuniverse, PutPlace, NileGuide, Iceberg, TotSpot, EdenBee
Hard at work in Italy - getting ready to finish our project for Mondadori. I will then fly to Italy for the press conference. Mondadori is an Italian media company, owned by Berlusconi.
This is Elena and Santosh…..

I was planning to attend the Data Sharing Summit but it just happened to fall on the day my 17,000 lbs of household crap arrived from NJ to my new CA lair. But now that I’m local, happy to meet and talk about these topics any time - it is my job!
