Mid-April ‘08 blogging
The weather here is perfect!
Time for some more blogging - now that we’ve shipped four major sites this week.
Best wishes to Doc - get better dude. We’re all rooting for you.
I should not be surprised that at no time - in his post about ‘a new path to liquidity’ - does Fred Wilson ever talk about building companies up to be profitable - and that’s it. A profitable company. Oh my goodness. Clearly these guys (and when I say ‘guys’ - I mean VCs) are ONLY in it for the money. Software and technology companies do allot more than just make money - and this is why we aren’t really looking for VC investment ourselves. Software can save lives, change lives and improve the world. That’s important - too. Building a great company needs more than just pressure to sell out. That crap shoot style may be fine for folks like Fred - but not me. We’re building a real company - to produce products and make profits.
Congrats to Amy Harmon on winning a Pulitzer on her series on DNA mucking with.

Ah - no wonder Juha Cristansen wasn’t returning calls from Sonopia.
Once again Sarah Perez and I are in sync. She’s posted a list of ‘open data’ sources. This plays perfectly into my #2 post of “How to build the Mesh” - Persistent ubiquitous content.
Its great to see FriendFeed has ambition. I wonder if they’ll ever be a DLA?
Yuri’s night sounds like a fun day and party.

Congrats to Ashish and Paavani - on their wedding. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be there - but we had to wait for iTimes.com to launch!
