“That’s for Joe”
The final episode of ‘the Wire’ was killer - tying together all the loose ends and making it clear that life goes on in Baltimore.
Everyone ends up moving on, all sorts of gateway roles are use dot connect worlds together (like the bald headed ex-cop who first gives up Marlo’s cell phone # and then rats on the cops) and as Dave Winer predicted - the youngblood Michael steps it up a notch.
My favorite scenes were the wake, the reality of politics behind closed doors and the fact that the Jewish lawyer was setting up Marlo for a string if real estate deal scams. The newspaper is a mess, they win a Pulitzer for lying and any semblance or right or independence is squashed down - in favor of greed, inbalanace and status quo.
Yup - that’s America. Doesn’t matter if its Baltimore or anywhere else. I just hope we elect a Democrat or else I’m headed to Vancouver.
