I’ve lost my voice
No not Marc’s Voice - but my physical voice. Apparently its a by-product of the cold that has been going around teh Bay Area and my daughter brought home as a present to me.
The trick will be - “how do I do this panel this afternoon” - here at Mix08?
I can’t recall in all my 51 years - this ever happening to me before. I open my mouth to say something - and nothing comes out. Its a very weird feeling.
Its only then do you realize how much you depend on your voice. Its almost as if I was blind or deaf.

[…] My voice giving out - captured on phone video Robert Scoble shot - at dinner last night. We all thank Dave Winer for RSS. Now my voice is totally gone. I’ve gone to whisper mode. […]

Marc-
Get to a store quickly and get Grapefruit Seed Extract. 10 drops in an 8oz glass of water should clear up your chords enough to get through the panel. Keep another glass ready. Worked for me for years and I’m a professional musical theatre performer.

Two things.
It happened to me once; I took it as a lesson in listening. And patience.
I read Leonard Nimoy chose a mute day each week to preserve his distinctive voice, allowing it recuperate from a week of performance and rehearsal.
