Prediction: Obama will be assassinated - Clinton/Obama ticket is best
So this lady in Englad - Doris Lessinbg - who won the Nobel prize for literature in 2007 is predicting that if Barak Obama is elected president - he’ll be assassinated. Unfortunately I agree with her.
This country (my country - the U.S.) is fuilled with crackpots, nut case, bigoted racist assholes - and they would go ballistic if we elected a Black Man - even a half-Black man.
You never hear about left-wing nut cases assasinating people or blowing buildings up. Yet the right-wing is full of these kind of people. They call themselves ‘militia’.
That’s the truth about this country. They reelected Bush - they don’t seem to care about anybody but themselves and their ignorance gets them issuing second and third mortages on their homes - which then then lose. These kinds of folks are what fills up the states between both coasts and inhabit what we call the red states - the states that elected Bush - twice.
So what to do?
Lessing says we should elect a Clinton/Obama ticket.
Hmmm - well then what happens when Hillary is assassinated?

This is a hypothetical assessment. There are people who hate all sorts of other people. But does fear of being attacked make us not dare to take the next step? This is precisely what their aim is. If we just back down because of those possibilities or even credible threats, we may as well forget about elections as a whole because they would have dictated the way we live our lives.
Those ‘assassination’ claims are precisely why people should vote for Obama. Time to end the era of fear once and for all.

Marc: Actually, there *are* left-wing nutcases doing that sort of thing. They’re primarily eco-terrorists… starting with the good ol’ Unabomber, through the types who burn down apartment complexes, and down to the dipsticks who set SUVs aflame.
Granted, there are *lots* more of the right-wing types, but never underestimate the human capacity for stupidity and self-righteousness on all ends of the political spectrum.

If I remember correctly we had a Democratic President for eight years in the 1990s and no one tried to assassinate him. Why didn’t the right-wingers try to kill Bill Clinton? After all, Toni Morrisson declared President Clinton the first black president. In fact, the last President who faced such an attempt was a Republican named Ronald Reagan. So you’re really reaching here.
You need some mental help. You need to get a hold of your anger towards people whose opinions differ from yours. You need to figure out why you’re demonizing and stereotyping people based on their political affiliation. You’re also ruminating on future disasters and conspiracy theories. Those types of behaviors are not healthy at all.

I suspect that Obama thinks Hillary in unelectable in November (as do I).
Besides, until Bill’s role is clearly defined you’d have to be nuts to be HRC’s running mate.

This is one of the biggest reasons I can’t stand your politics, Marc. Horribly uninformed and generally offensive. Eco-terrorsts (left-wing terrorists) are responsible for more property damage in the US than any other terrorist threat, and arguably more deserving of law enforcement attention that any other domestic group, by the numbers.
For a more centric-to-the-news example of left-wing terrorism, look no further than John Walker Lindh, the product of California’s outcome based education system (find a religion that appeals to you and go with it, because they’re all equally valid), was the product of two parents who couldn’t move further left on the political spectrum, and a school that had little required curriculum (certainly not the ideal concept for a conservative school).
In case you’ve forgotten who this is, it’s the American kid who decided to join up with the Taliban.
These are just two examples that spring to mind immediately. Sure, there are bad people in the world, but before you run off at the mouth again, and deem all conservatives hell-worthy, try thinking.
Or do we conservatives have the lock on that activity, too?

Is it time for predictions already? Here’s mine. Both Obama and Clinton are unelectable. They’ll fight each other to a standstill and the Republicans, with a little help from Diebold, will steal the election. The real problem is that McCain isn’t extreme enough as 30% of the US clearly hasn’t learned the lessons of the last 8 years. The US needs somebody who is so bat-shit crazy that they can’t help but finally realize what’s going on. Unfortunately the other 70% are not going to like it one bit, but its necessary.

I can’t say I’m not worried about this myself and had a similar thought regarding a Clinton/Obama ticket. But … if Obama were to be elected and if he were to be assinated … the United States will have a civil war on it hands!!

Roger, I agree about eco-terrorists taking it to the extreme. But they are handful of individual nutcases (at the worst a small gang). In the case of right, they have massive organized movements. You cannot compare them. Even a subdued KKK is a massive organization compared to eco terrorists.

I will never read this blog again. That is the most ridiculous thing to post. Right-wing crazies vs Left-wing crazies! The Liberal Left wing suffers from an at least equal dose of righteous elitism as the right wing conservatives. And hard-line feelings of righteousness can lead to all sorts of atrocities. Keep marching down that thinking! It makes me vomit.
The idea that there is any acceptance of assassinating ANY president by any mainstream/normal group in order to justify your own beliefs being BETTER is assinine. We are all much more alike than we think.
To me it would be a lot safer in this world if we got rid of the hard-line righteousness that EVEN YOU possess.

I honestly can’t understand why so many people are so nuts over Obama. Hillary is clearly more qualified and experienced to be president. I think the media loves Obama’s charismatic yet detail-free speeches and the messiahesque hype he carries McCain is too war-happy and knows nothing about the economy, and Obama is all flash and little substance- I think Clinton is by far the best choice!

If Obama were killed…the neo-cons and the ultra-rich are as likely to have have it done than some skinhead. If McCain wins, America will continue on exactly as it has under Bush….the rich get richer, soldiers keep dying, the middle class goes away and a whole lot of Chinese, Indians, illegal immigrants get to eat because they are doing the jobs that big business has pulled away from American citizens. Truthfully, I don’t like any of the candidates…. I am not sure Hillary is any better than McCain, Obama is either the real deal of full of crap….I’m just not sure… I think poor old Huckabee is the most honest of the bunch… but I just don’t agree with much he says…HaHa.

I have not heard any comment from the ku klux klan-maybe they have spoke up,i am not sure. I read an article recently from some site that quoted the klan as saying that they would never let a black man become president of the united states-that they hate the blacks with a passion and they will do whatever it takes to keep that from happening.I cant help but feeling that something is going to happen.I myself am voting for Hillary and think Obama is living in a fantasy world. If he really thinks he is going to do everything he is promising he is definitely delusional. No president since George Washington has been able to deliver everything they promised and neither will this delusional man.

No one is going to kill Obama…if he wins. Hillary should be the next president. No doubt about it. She’s the smartest. Meanwhile, the president is just one piece of this desperately fucked up US Government and all of us should focus on the totality of Washington in order to see real change.

America, wake up!
Everyone is herding like blind sheep to Obama’s side - a guy who’s biggest claim to the presidency is he likes to talk about being an agent of “change”, though he has no substance to back it up with. The only concrete “change” he seems hellbent on making is letting every illegal immigrant in this country become legal. Does he not see how overburdered states like California are when it comes to education, health care, and social welfare, so that regular citizens can’t even get proper education and health care because all the illegal immigrants are swamping the system? Why don’t we just open up our borders? All the illegals are swarming over now, anyway, hoping to become one of the lucky illegals to be christened with legality by Priest Obama, in the holy Church of Change.
Also, I hate war and I’m certainly against the war in Iraq, but any guy who says he will pull troops out immediately is doing nothing short of a suicidal action that will plunge the world into a horrible civil war in the Middle East which will probably turn into a world war. We created a mess over there for sure, and now he will create another. Which could end up being worse if that’s possible.
Could it be people are swarming to him because of “black” guilt? They want to show how “open minded” they are and that they’re willing to embrace a “Black” president, even if he is the worst phenomenom to ever hit the Presidential campaign trail. Perhaps we should copy from the illegal immigrants and stage our own million man march on City Halls around the country. After all, it’s our country. Where are all the LEGAL residents and why aren’t they protesting their rights and standing up against potential National Disasters like Obama? If the illegal immigrants think they can march for their rights in this country, by God, certainly we should, since it’s our country! Don’t let Obama ruin our country. Wake up before it’s too late, America!

All opinions first of all, so here´s mine. Asassinated or not, one thing for sure, America´s way of thinking will not! After all, our democracy isn´t over 600 years old…that´s still young for a nation to embrace all that it once excluded…so, how many Presidents have it taken to get to Obama? Exactly!
Some say, he´s the closest representative of most ethnic groups: White (never really seen a ¨white¨person, Black (seen a few that actually was the color black), Hispanic/Spanish (if he was fluent, he could pass that test), Arab (if he spoke/learned Arabic, he could close that gap as well), and as far as being racially mixed…he could have all kind of European blood in his veins….So, now people…look back on history and see which President has had that kind of potential to represent its Nation´s perspective on racial and international issues. Yes, he has more than just fair skin (which shouldn´t be a free ticket) for anyone! Yes, if America´s home-grown terrorists managed to asassinate Obama, the country would suffer for many years to come. This would definetly give outside entities windows of opportunity to damage our social infastructure. So, that we have Homeland Security and so many other agencies tapping phone lines and various surveillance operations on a 24-hour viligence, how could and why would any ¨insane¨idiot think he could pull it off…ONLY with the help of some insiders…Ummmmm, use your imagination on that one.
