This should be a hell of a week - coming up - blogging
As we head on down the final stretch - I just wanna say how fun it’s been to NOT have to blog ALL the time and just accumulate a ton of links - and burst them out at once. It fits my lifestyle.
I try to isolate big issues, but in general I just simply don;t have time to write up on every new aggregator or try out even 1/100th of these new products. So I just point to them. And the news is stranger than fiction - and I just report on it - as it happens.
When “bringing social to software” or “open social networking” become a reality - then “By George” - you can bet I’ll dedicate individual blog posts to those memes. These are the things I’m interested in.
Meanwhile….
I gotta say - I love the idea of MySpace tracking and following Facebook. Now we just gotta see how ‘open’ MySpace gets with their OpenSocial stuff. This whole game could be changing. But my bet is that MySpace will hold back and simply copy Facebook directly - and not go further.
I don’t like the idea of Mark Zuckerberg’s SSN being posted (as I commented on my buddy Hooman’s blog post) but I believe that Billionaire’s can buy extra SSN #’s - can’t they? Isn”t there a limit of 10 SSNs per billion?
Chuck White posted……
Congrats to Bobby Kotick. This guy is a survivor! Activision and Vivendi Games. You gotta love it!
LiveJournal sold - just like some meat wagon. Bran fed, Grade A, choice cuts. Exploiting customers is in. How much did it go for? Rafat is right - the only place SixApart makes money - is in it’s enterprise sales.
David Recordon reports that SixApart implemented Facebook Beacon with opt-in ONLY from day one. And it’s working. Folks like it! Funny how things work like that. As long as you give the user control, they’re happy. I just don’t understand why Facebook doesn’t grok that?
Fred Wilson is just starting to see why I haven’t owned anything from Apple since 1997. And I bet if Apple did the things to him like they did to me - well - he wouldn’t have….. well let’s just leave it - at - welcome Fred to the “Apple is a devil company” cult. We have red pills for others - if you need it - or you could just wait and it’ll come naturally.
I agree with Walt (and others) Verizon’s move to open up their network is a major thing. Once again - the domino effect is happening right in front of our eyes. More evidence that being open - is inevitable.
