Blogging from Milan

I spoke at a very nice place on Thursday Circolo della Stampa.  It was basically the press club in Milan - built in the late-1700s.  I was the guest of Lehman Bros, Italia

I ranted and raved for two hours and they ate it up.  I guess they’re not used to speakers like me.

I hate picking stocks - but I love giving these folks the inside poop on Open Social Networking, Social Media Advertising and how coolio OpenID2 is.

This place was really stunning, but nothing compared to - this:

or this:

This had this mystical kind of reverant glow to it - totally spiritual and holey by nature.

Meanwhile……

An entire Canter family of Elfs.  And Dave - tooAnd Fred.

The battle of the exclusives is being fought over Robert Scoble’s futureIf anyone has any juicy Ed Sussman stories - please send them to me or Robert - before he signs with FastCompany!   If Robert knew what I know…. well he does!  I told him!   We all love Robert and wish him only the best.

Details on Bebo’s platform - Dave thinks its the end of OpenSocial - and thinks I don’t have the balls to call Google on their game. AS much as it looks like OpenSocial is a play to dominate the open social networking space - I disagree with Dave - Google won’t be able to limit the usage of OpenSocial - if they do it right and finish what they’ve started.

But what I REALLY want to let all of you know that - this game ain’t over yet - and the rewards are far greater then even the so-called’ social networking’ game.  It’s called “bringing social to software” - and Facebook can’t stop that!  Or Google.

Google finally gets a GProfile service up and running.  Another link in the OpenSocial chain.

I also kind of like the idea of Google’s Knol service as well. I wonder if they’ll let trolls take over public pages and call any interaction by the actual page topic owner - biased?  That’s what pisses me off about Wikipedia.  Imagine hooking up all that data that Google is collecting and tie it into their Google’s Scholar program, open sourcing all books and making it available - in all languages - free.  Wikipedia almost does that - but these trolls give me the creeps.  I don’t mind amateurs, I just hate trolls.  I wonder what Google will do about them?

I want giant timelines of all history - referenced to videos and documentaries on all history.  And herstory - too!

Dave hits it on the head when it comes to Amazon’s new database service.  Storage, computing power and now databases - are all now officially commodity items.  Others agree.

Robert Scoble calls for a first step towards……

Surprise surprise - Cisco has a social networking strategy!

I’ve been wondering how long it would take for folks ot grok that they could easily graph a social networking system onto Wordpress.  Buono Fortuna mi amici!

Ready for a Rupture?

Once again - 1,000,000,000% agree with Dare. This has got to stop. Facebook apps just suck. From now on - anyone who invites me into one of these goofy wastes of time - gets unfriended.

I got a haircut - just for this show

Looks like Firewire is keeping up with the Joneses.

This is a good reason for using a specific IM service.

First look at TwineDoplr, MTOS (Moveable Type Open Source - 3 years late),
How can they call it the 2nd Ave Deli if it ain’t on 2nd Ave!  There oughta be a law!
