Its nice to see honesty coming from a Conference giver

Valleywag is so bored they got nothing else to do but blog about boring conferences.

I’m not surprised that Mike Arrington forgot about some speech he had to give - he did that to us in Amsterdam in June.

But Dave Winer says it best “there’s just nothing to do” at these conferences - which is why some of us just fall asleep. I sure as hell hope we have something to do in Paris this year. something like Mena Trott yelling at Ben Metcalfe - that was a hoot!

One conference I didn’t fall asleep at was Rafat Ali’s recent “Future of Business Media” in NYC last week. We provided them a social network so that conference attendees could hook up and make appointments, etc.

In his characteristic honest style - Rafat analyzed and laments upon how he could have done better - putting on teh conference. Interesting stuff to see coming from a conference giver. I wonder if Chris Pirillo would ever do that? Or Kevin Werbach or John Battelle?

:-)
