Marc's Voice

building the open web one bit at a time

Pumpkin time and a week of Conferences

PopTech, Widget Summit and Web 2.0 all are this week. And other happenings as well. Coolio - I say. I wonder if anything significant will be said. One thing I can say for sure = I’m no dam LobbyConner!

Why do you think I always speak at these things - so I’m NOT branded a LobbyConner! I don’t have an invite to the MySpace party - I guess its because I think they’ll open up and I’ll ask Rupert about that - if I see him.

Meanwhile…..

65% of everything is NOT in the US. You’d think folks could figure that out. We have!

It looks like the APML standard is getting real traction and getting support from all sides! Congrats dudes! We’ll definitely support it. Now - what is it? How is it different from Attention.xml?

Allot of folks have been talking about Chris Messina’s insights into Google purchasing Jaiku and presence as a battlefield. I agree. How oAuth, hCards, OpenID and other burgeoning standards play into this - I sure as hell hope that Twitter gives away their source. Its their only chance at resurrection.

I’m excited about doing a panel with Joseph Smarr Wednesday at Web 2.0. It’s on ‘open data’ and we’ll be able to compare all the different ‘open platforms’ and just how open they are!

Robert Scoble is finally discovering that perhaps six minute edits are more likely to get viewed than one hour interviews. This one is one SixApart - something I actually wanted to hear. But I ain’t got no dam HOUR!

Awe! You mean Shawn Fanning’s new company is failing! Awe - that’s too bad! And surprising - NOT. And what does this say for ‘Rupture?’

And Jerry Yang assembles a cracker jack group of experts and then ignored them! Now that’s surprising NOT!

It should not be surprising that all these rich kid Googlers - who have already vested - are heading to Facebook - where they can get rich again. Meanwhile it looks like Tom and Chris will be getting richer.

Welcome Surj Patel

Congrats to the Trotts

Condolences to Dennis L. Haarsager

Meanwhile its great to see major artists abandon the music labels even if it is for other large companies like Live Nation. Can you smell that? It smells like Teen Spirit.

Great to see that Chandler may actually be real - eventually.

The Future of Business Media conference is looking like a pretty interesting confab. I’ll be there showing off what we do for Staci and Rafat - a private network for conference attendees.

I wonder if Loic is thinking of open sourcing Seesmic?

Lulu, Zipidee, Sermo, eXpresso, SMX Social Media, OpenFLV, Criticker, SnapLayout, Wua.la, Yuwie, Cartfly,

Windows Live Events (Iwonder if they’ll be UpComing, Zvents or Eventful compatible?)

Welcome Intuit - to the present

I can’t wait for my TiVO software update to my COMCAST STB!

I got over 50+ copies of the same TokBox emails from Keith Teare today. Thanks Keith!

Hmmm - Paolo - Woodland Park - Hmmmmm I wonder if that has anything to do with our Telecom Italia deal.
