Blogging from Tokyo - mid-Sept. ‘07
It’s really hot and muggy here - as if summer has not gone anywhere. I did a second event last night in Osaka (firs one was in May) - which I was warmly welcomed - and swarmed by adoring fans who ALL wished to have their photo taken with me. This crowd is actually from all over Japan - as they’re part of a MLM (multi-level marketing) organization called Lifetime.
This experience led me to realize that I’m actually quite happy being fairly anonymous. Nobody really knows who I am - so can walk down the street and not have to suffer from the ‘cult of personality’ that surrounds celebs. There was a time period - during my :15 - when folks recognized me in downtown Palo Alto -and of course there’s the conference circuit - but I don’t have to deal with paparazzi, etc.
But at Lifetine events I’m a celeb as I designed their architecture for a new kind of MLM experience. More on this once it ships.
Meanwhile…….
On the flip side of fame are lists of people who are influential. I just hate them. How can you NOT list Dave Winer as an influential blogger. What idiots!
Sam Sethi has a great post on Social Graph portability, triggered by the new Yahoo SNS - Mash.
How Twitter scales - lessons from deployment.
Oh goodey - more people scraping servcies. I wonder if Squidoo will support our Bill of Rights for Users of Social Media? Are their APIs? Do they both suck and spit?
Crying is a good thing - if you’re a new born.
I sense a tad bit of jealousy from Kevin Burton. With all these purchases of various kinds of meme-trackers - when is HIS payday? Kevin practically invented this stuff. He’s been doing it for YEARS! Would somebody PLEASE go a buy Kevin?
