I slipped and fell while getting onto a boat today- so I won’t be swimming anymore here - though I am planning on swimming later on in Walnut Creek, when I get back home. But first its one more trip to London and then Gnomedex and NYC before I finally get home in mid-August.

There was a panel on the future of social networking and Gina Bianchini (of Ning) said that there will be millions of niche networks, and she disagreed that people will want a single profile–they’ll want to have identities for different social networks. I think there will be both - single compound profiles, but also mutiple persona as well. There’s no reason we can’t have a world of both.

Yelp APIs. Coolio. Gee I wonder where all those microformats are out there? Oh yah - they’re only page tags. Now who has those tagged pages? Oh yah - Technorati and all those search engines. And where are all the APIs for all those events, reviews and people? I guess Tantek never got to that. But Yelp did!

The Economist has ended their efforts at creating a social network. If I could count how many media companies we’ve worked with who have chickened out - well lets just say this doesn’t surprise me.
