Coral Reef as open infrastructure

So Dave Winer got me into using Twitter - just so I could experience it. Despite my resistance, I finally succumbed and have been able to let people about my dirty laundry in a box in Paolo’s office.

Thank goodness for this utility.

But seriously - I just read Fred Wilson thanking Dave for the ability to automatically take a Flickr upload and forward it to Fred’s Twitter account - which then means that everyone that is ‘following’ Fred - can see him sailing in the Greek Seas. Or whatever.

Dave has referred to Twitter as a coral reef and I agree that it’s great to have a ‘people and presence’ service like Twitter - to connect into one’s open infrastructure.

As I’ve written before - if we (BBM and our product PeopleAggregator) go and support the Twiter APIs, we’ll only do it if we can ALSO support Powce, Jabber, AIM and other ‘IM/presence networks’.

But it’ll coolio when we do that.

Definitely on our list.
