Marching through March

PS3 Goes Social with Home Community

3 New Government APIs - I just like the SOUND of that! A HUGE percentage of our revenues moving forward - will be coming from municipalities and government agencies.

The ID community leaders are now pointing to the next stage of OpenID as an important milestone. It’s what I’ve been saying as well. Only with the attribute exhcange can we make OpenID really useful and provide real benefits tha will make end-users noitice the power of OpenID. IMHO. Even if Kaliya calls me ‘irresponsible’ - at least it plants a seed in people’s minds of what’s next.

I wonder if ’start page’ deals will exist in the future. This so reminds me of Web1.0 business models.

I wonder how many different NBA social nework and media sharing sites they’ll be one year from now? Right now there’s two: FanVoice, which features eyeSpot technology. and the Portland Trailblazers site. We’ll have the third and fourth ones - for the Sac Kings and Monarchs. We finally signed paperwork today - so it’s official. Mark Cuban and Ted Leonsis - I’ll be calling you up now.

iSporty, GroupRecipes, Koolanoo, FakeYourSpace.com, Washington Stakeout, SocialURL, Babelgum, YFly, Hooka
On-line Photoshop. How long did that take - what? 5 years? 8 years? Depending on how you coun. The world gave Adobe plenty of time - and nobody jumped on that opportunity. Now they’ll come lumbering along and ’stake their claim’. I’m sorry the Gimp didn’t have the balls to ake on Adobe.

Mark Cuban’s vision of the Virtual Machine and the Future of Personal Computing is right on. Its what I’ve been assuming since the early 90’s. Now it just needs to happen. But I wouldn’t give the whole thing to Google. There will be other grids and on-line OSes besides Google - for sure.

We’ve updated to Facebook’s new APIs, now it looks like we’ll have to get nerdy on their Facebook Querry language.

I can’t wait for the new MyYahoo!

50 days to go til econSM. We’ll be launching something there. :-) And I get to tell Chris and Ponzi, Doug Gold, Kevin Werbach, Michal Arrington, Tony Perkins and a few others - “I told yah so!” Rafat and Staci were smart enoiugh to listen.

On-line video editor wars. And Brightcove is jumping in - too.

So Bud (beer) has a social network now. I think the real play would be to inter-connect that network to ALL other networks through widgets, open APIs and free beer. What else? Open Standards = Free Beer! But good luck Bud - anyway!

More complaints of Wikipeida editors outright lying and Jimmy Wales supporting them. This doesn’t surpise me a bit. When I confronted Jimmy and Joi Ito about my page being branded by some kid who called me biased about my own bio, they both laughed and said: “yah that happened to us - too - but we had it taken off.” That was at last year’s SXSW. Meanwhile my page is still branded.

Danny Goodman music video Mr. Spam Man.

Turns out Kevin Werbach agrees with me. The Cisco SNS play is about convergence and the infrastructure stack.

Unconference in Singapore

I’m not sure why Suw listed Ning as a U.K. startup. Yoz has moved to SF now and works for Second Life. Why is Ning U.K. based still?

What do you do when you’re a retiered VC, ICANN board member, CC, Technorati, SixApart, blah blah - the list geos on and on - dude. When you’re so bored with your own #IRC channel named after you and you’ve achieved top status in 3 out of 6 categories on Orkut? You reach level 70 in WOW. Congrats to Joi ITo! I’m headed your way dude - and I won’t be finding you in the lobby of the Austin Hilton his year.
