We were up in Incline Village last weekend. I was excited as my girls would get to see fresh snow for the first time. Up until then - they had only experienced hard, frozen snow - but this would be the weekend they’d get to make snow anges, snowballs, Fristy the Snowgirl and in general - experience what my youth was like.

Playing in the snow is a joy every kid should have.

But then when it came to leave a major snowstorm kept us up there a couple of extra days. When the sun finally broke through we started to head down from the moutains - only to find ourselves trapped on I-80 - right past Donner pass - for 8 hours. It was a trip.
