building the open web one bit at a time

Offsite links - during a break

Desktop Apps, reborn as hybrids - Om raps it out.  But ignores the significane of WHICH platform you choose really matters.  To me - Zimbra is looking like a pretty good option.

Like a moth to the Freebase flame - by Jon Udell.  I haven’t had time to start loading up FreeBase - but I will.

Congrats to the team a KickApps for the relase of Version 2.0.  DISCLOSURE: I have done some consulting for KickApps and suggested that they go out and kick some ass.  Some serious Kick Apps Ass.

Congrats to John Musser on hitting 400 APIs in his directory. I have to ask this question: “of those 400 APIs, how many are two way?  eg. when you can boh pull data OUT of the system as well as write it back in?”

Apparently some people don’t see why Best Buy would buy Speakeasy.  If you were a Speakeasy shareholder you would and even more if you were like Larry Dignan and myself and grok what’s coming…..  OM sees it as a win for Covad - but for me it just verifies where this is all headed and where folks like Best Buy fit in and stay alive.  Humans need other humans to make things work. That will never change.  Best Buy is in a position to be EVERYONE’s friend - or partner up and offer solutions that EVERYONE will want and subscribe to it - for $10 a month.

Good luck to Alex Barnett.

Rumor has it that Technorati is looking for a new CEO.
