Dam! Here I was considering Om Malik to be a friend of mine - and there he goes and outwordly disses me and my company - by not mentioning us in a post on a category we’re helping to create.

It is time to rethink the whole notion of social networking, and start thinking of it as a feature for other online activities. Already, we see companies like Affinity Circles and Social Platform turning the “social network” into a commodity, by offering turnkey solutions. That’s just the start. It is time to start thinking beyond the web-page paradigm, and think of social networking as part of a larger “experience,” one that starts to blend the best of online and offline worlds.
Yes Om - that’s what I’ve been talking about for years. An earlier predecessor of Affinity - was called Affinity Engines - which I advised - before they sued Google over Orkut (who was a founder of Affinity Engines.)
Anyway - we offer more than hard wired ’solutions’. We also offer a hosted model - so ANYONE can have their own MySpace-in-a-Box. But we make our money off of customizing and building out networks for……

Meanwhile, Marc, I’m considering putting together an independent site with all the social networking frameworks available reviewed by third parties and the various issues discussed and contrasted. This would also include a forum (although obviously not a social networking system, as this would imply bias). Would you be interested?
