[...] I have been asked three times now - by smart people - to change the term “PeopleAggregator“. And Jon Husband just left an intelligent comment noting that ‘digital lifestyle aggregation’ is too confusing and technical. [...]

Xbox 360 As IPTV Cable Box - Microsoft’s grand strategy reveals itself. Needless to say that grand strategy involved connecting devices together and finally solving convergence - which seems to be the theme of today’s post. So do I have to state again - DLAs will play a major part of this equation.

Spot on, in my opinion.

Paradoxically, an aspect of all the turbulence and rough-and-tumble of this hyperlinked digital environment and infrastructure is that lots of business people who are not in the thick of it (and some that are) keep wanting everything to be so simple that their cat can understand it .. I have heard more than one person say that "digital lifestyle aggregator" is too complex, too difficult a term to understand.

Which gets me (secretly, inside) frustrated and annoyed ! What's not to understand ?

You have to spell it out for them, as in "guess what ? You have digital pictures up on the web and on your hard drive, you have downloaded video clips, mp3's, movies, you have articles you want to keep, you have blog posts to which you want to refer, you have profiles and links and tagged material, etc., etc. These represent, or are your digital lifestyle .. don't you want to aggregate them and be able to organize, retrieve and use them easily ?"

Ofc ourse you do .. you will one day be using a digital lifestyle aggregator, a concept created by and term invented by one Marc Canter.

As you know I've been muttering about profile page aggregators for ages. I even gave it a name "AboutMe 2.0". Nice to see others finally reaching the same conclusion. Personally, I find this much more interesting than the "Portal 2.0" of the My Home Page with widgets. AboutMe is for other people to read. My Page is for me to read. One to Many, Many to One.

[...] Someone just pointed out this super strong message from the Energy Field that is Marc Canter: Kim Cameron sets the record straight: State of the market or chance to get things right? And he has nothing against OpenID. But Kim is the god head and groks this shit better than any of us - so please listen to him! ID is a hell of a lot more than SSO or authentication and if we’re to stop phishing, and spoofing and ID theft - we need severe crypto, locked down, secure ID systems.
