What better way to change the world - then to blog!

It’s football day here in Amerika - American Football - so what better day then to sit down and blog.

Tee Hee Hee - lots of pushback, jealousy and negative surrounding Widgets.  Why? ‘Cause they’re the bizzword du jour.  Never fails. Once some panacea, solve all our problems solution appears, the negative energy surges to tear it down.  By defintion - any buzzword du jour is NOT what it seems.  Once something gets delcared “the Year of….” - it ain’t Poor Fred Wilson is even running a poll as to what to do.  So now widgets get attacked, eluded to as “in violation of blogger principles” and even locked out of certain systems.  But as far as I can see - ever since Jason DeFillippo invented them - they rock!  Cause nobody owns them!

Michael Arrington has embarked on a new networking party promotion. He’s got all the sponsors lined up, just no date or location. The challenge I see is that if one goes to these TechCrunch parties - its so packed with hotties and young stud muffins that’s there’s no way in hell you can get a demo, find out about these startups or in any way - provide these sposnors with any sort of value or return on investment.  What Arrignton needs is a social network, finely tuned to his requirements - which will continue the TechCrunch ‘conversation’ 365/24/7 - IMHO. But not the ‘branded community’ he’s got from MyBlogLog.  You know - MySpace in a Box, refined for your peeps.   I don’t see what this does, besides display faces on a facewall.  Am I missing something? Forums are a good start, but do each of these functions need to be in separate systems?

Here are some insights into what Brad Horowitz sees in MyBlogLog.  I guess you can make money off of bloggers wanting better statistics.  Isn’t that what feedburner does?

Kim Cameron shows exacly how to integrate OpenID with Infocards (I think he means Cardspace.)

Jeff Jarvis thinks Ze Frank should stick to the small screen. Me - I wish Ze a ton of good luck.  TV needs originals and great writing - and new approaches and Ze Frank entertains.  Can’t say that about most vloggers.

Speaking of migratory beasts and changing behavior patterns - reports are in that hi5 is surging in traffic.  And who is that traffic being taken away from?  TagWorld, Frappr, Multiply, Bebo, Facebook, MySpace?  All of them?  Probably.  But the key thing to learn here - is that this game is not over with - and in fact it will never be over with.  The day when one product or service dominates forever - is over.  Just as fast as one can click on a link, import their profile, change their settings - is as fast as they lose loyalty and find new places to hang out at.  The only metaphor we can use - is Movies or Music.  I used to listen to Devo and the Talking Heads.  Now I do - only once in a while.  That’s why software is the new rock and roll.

Jeremy Zawody is personally getting involved in integrating MyBlogLog into Yahoo.  GOOD!  Now maybe there will be ANY sort of integration - as opposed to Flickr, delicious or…….  Or how ’bout adding OpenID or microcontent?

The echo chamber continues to play ‘pile-on’ to the new hot startup.  They did this with TagWorld, Riya, Flock, Odeo  - you name it.  They flood these new services with traffic, beat the shit out of the site and the founders - and then they move on - like a roaming pack of wild hyenas.  The only problem is - they don’t come back.  And Arrington is like the Pied Piper of these wild herds.  And as far as Geni is concerned - HELLO!  50% of all marriages end in divorce.  15% of the populace are Gay.  How can you NOT know that ahead of time!  This reminds me when we did MusicWorks.  We were under a crunch for time, and our programmer - Jay Fenton - calls me up and says “what are triplets?”  I tell him “fuck it, we’ll get to triplets in the next rev.”

booBox, Booktribes, Trig, HubLounge, Ted Leung goes social,

This link is too good - I gotta repeat it. It was my favorite birthday present Don’t Do Business With Five Across. This lead me to write xxx.

There.com has been reborn and repurposed - for MTV.

Future of Web Design

Its good to see some people calling Steve Jobs on his bullshit.  Thanks Dan!  And Dan and Dave - too!  Lordy lordy haven’t we been through this before?  Ever heard of OnStar?  Wonder why?  Well you inow what? Nokia, Samsung, Moto, Treo, Blackberry and Siemens just left the door open for Appe to come in and show them a few new tricks.  Now they just have to learn quickly, and improve their products - while keeping them open.
