We’re in Businessweek!

Back in the day - when I was getting quoted in big mainsteam mags all the time, I grew tainted of tidly little coverage like this article gives us.  I’d call up the reporter and let them know what angles they missed, what they got wrong and where the parties were.

You see the way into a journalists heart is through parties and making the scene.  I think this comppensates them for the lack of financial reward.  They love to go to parties and schmooze.

So ‘back then’ I became friends with all the key writers - like Dan Farber, Tony Bove, Fred Davis, Laurie Flynn, Nick Arnett, etc.  That was my marketing strategy - just make sure that ANY article being written about multimedia - included me.

So now we have the blogosphere.  Geting linked to by Dave, BoingBoing or Slashdot used to be the shit.  Now its Om, TechCrunch or Rafat Ali.  I haven’t had any problem getting into Valleywag, but now its time for folks to write about my PRODUCT - not me.

So its really nice to start off slow and simple - with this simple inclusion in an article about Ning.  More and more people will be comparing us to Ning, though they really ae for two completely different sets of people.

Well anyway - it feels good to be ‘back’ in the mainstream press.  So I gotta go do a barter deal with some smart PR firm, who will trade their hard work for sucking my brain.
