What Confabb ain’t

Yo Salim, Jon, Cam and Dave - after all these years - Confabb is the best you can do?

Come on dudes - you can do better than that!

Here’s some free ideas - just to reach up onto my shelf of past journals and recall some of the ideas I’ve had over the years.

1.  Questions for panels and panelists

2. Wiki - it ain’t too hard and there’s plenty of open source one’s available.

3.  Ever hear of Acteva?

4.  Built in back channel IRC channel.

5.  Video, podcasts, blah blah blah

6.  How ’bout Ajax - where’s the sexy - itenrerary/agenda thingie which opens up to expose bios, session description, questions submitted, presentations?

And BTW - you don’t get to call it social networking without:

- personal pages

- groups

IMHO

But I still love you guys anyway.

  1. Dude, are you kidding me?

Well, you’re right…. in 4 months with everyone working part-time, it IS the best we could do.

And we don’t call it SN… we’re a long way from a social network. This is primarily a research tool for now. However, we have a product roadmap that needs a satellite photo to get it all (and you have a couple of good suggestions there). We’ll be adding features as fast as we can.

And let’s figure out how to partner…. we don’t have time to reinvent the wheel and you’ve built a good one…..

(but will it take your weight??!! : ) - ha! sorry, couldn’t resist.

It would also be nicer if one could claim an event a lot faster. ;) Also, as one who has been involved in meeting planning for several years - making people do a speaker with a session is problematic. Often times schedules change but also aren’t even set until shortly before the show….while speakers and titles are announced well in advance.

  7. I was at DevConnections in Las Vegas last week with 5000 other people and it’s not listed, but you do have the Asia Golf Show, Furniture Fair in Belgrade and the Outsourcing Summit - ha! sorry, I couldn’t resist.

  10. Ditto Mark on the video/podcast - also if Confabb could add/link to a transcript of the IRC (the IRC at gnomedex this year was hysterical, but i forgot to save it) - Confabb doesnt have to save it, just link to it

Would also love to see tagging or recommendation feature where users can discover conferences they might also be interested in based on what they attended/others attended(I originally found Gnomedex through the posts of people going to Reboot, not through Chris Pirillo’s blog)

    Nice goin Salim!
