Turned down by SXSW
I first went to SXSW back in the early 90’s - back when CD ROMs were “interactive”.
Since then the bloggers have taken over and find plenty of topics to talk about like “what is blogging?” and “what does it take to be a good blogger?”
I’m sure there will be pleny of great panels at SXSW - but I really thought that a panel entitled “interactconnecting social networks together” - would be a great topic.
But alas - the masses didn’t. You see this year - all the panels are being voted on - by democratic process.
But soemthing tells me that Jason Kotke will be a keynote again - and I’m sure they’ll figure out how to get Meg Hourihan on stage - just so they can recall how they met and fell in love at SXSW.

Anyway - Lisa had a great tme last year - and I certainly didn’t go just to speak - so just SEE if they can keep me away this year.
One thing is FOR SURE! I ain’t sitting around waiting to go to Salt Lick with Robert Scoble again. He’s kept me away from it two years in a row. This year it’s Salt Lick or be dammed!
Maybe I can get to sit next to Jimmy Wales and Joi again and hear them talk about how THEIR bios were tagged as biased in Wikipedia - and how they (HA HA) got rid of their bias badges. Cause here it is almost a year later - and MY bio still has a bias badge on it.
Hmmmmm
Well so I don’t get to speak at SXSW - oh well. Their loss.

That’s disappointing. I stumbled onto your panel last year (something about the Mobile web) never having heard of you or caring much about social networks, and you were easily the most compelling speaker I’d heard.

There’s nothing stopping you from doing a presentation to people somewhere other than a conference room… If “their loss” wasn’t a flippant remark, perhaps you should not let it be a loss?
I didn’t find the explanation of the panel very compelling,
but perhaps enough other people did to make it worthwhile to do it anyway?

If you arrange to run your own break-out panel at SWSX, I will arrange to fly into it.

And if the breakout panel is in the Salt Lick, you’ll have me flying in from Ireland too. Mmmm, brisket. Hopefully see you here in Cork at the end of the month.
