Marc's Voice

building the open web one bit at a time

Catching up - its been a long week

Sasha’s techniques are coming out.  Apparently a few of those dupes didn’t like being duped.  BTW Borat coming out the week of the election could not be a coincidence - any more then Saddam being sentenced.  It all revolves around politics - and sex of course.  Borat is an incredible testimony to what makes our country - what it is.

Web AIM

I totally dig Klotsu - its my kind of product.

Adrian Scott finally cashes out. Nokia buys Ryze?

Om predicts doom for mommy social networks.  I wonder what his feelings are about mumbling comnference moderators?

Yahoo 360 - 180 = 180.

People search on Wink.

Mary Meeker’s ’state of the Internet’.

Stephen O’Hear doesn’t quite get Elgg - but that’s OK. He’s craeted a coolio film.

Will Yahoo make a deal to buy AOL from Time Warner?: Buy AOL, Sell to MSFT, Merge with eBay, or Stay the Course?

Some may be predicting PS3’s doom, but I liked what I saw.  But of course - I would never pay $500 for a game console.

Skype 3.0 coming.

REST web services: a book by leonard Richarson and Sam Ruby.  Coolio.

Just met Chuck Cirino - turns out he’s an old buddy of my old buddy Todd Stevens.

PeopleAggregator APIs.

Bernie Goldbach agrees with me - Caitlin rocks.  Remember this handle - theHill88.

Internet Identity Workshop (IIW) Dec 4-6, 2006

Why Zuckerberg won’t accept $1B - from someone who should know.  What’s scarey to me is that all tehse scoail network ntrprenuers - buy and sell their systems - like they own the people in them. Talk about monetization!  Maybe one day that will change.

The true end of an era. First Esther shuts down PC Forum - then they sell of Realease 1.0.  How will the VCs EVER find any deals?

Sodahead, Haystack, Social Networking by the numbersWho will win in Indian social networks.

Brightcove APIs

Dare reports of SpringWidgets

But wait!  Shawn Hardin - OH NO!  Flock is doomed!  A truer asshole I have never met.  Thank god Yahoo got rid of him.  Susan Mernit has a slightly different perspective.

Happy birthday to Lisa Rein.

Real making real money.  Amazing!

I love helping friends out.

  1. Hey Marc - thanks for the link to my film, but with regards to Elgg, I’m pretty sure I do get it ;)

  4. Marc,

As Steve points out, he’s interviewed us a number of times and does get it. I’m not sure what your Elgg experience is - this is your only visible venture into it, from 18 months ago - but I’d be interested in knowing where your view and his diverge.
