Visual posts #2
Here’s some posts that really need visuals:
As a young man I played at CBGBs many times. It was durijng the era of No Wave - when the talking Haeds and Devo were huge, Brian Eno was a godhead and I went dancing at Mud Club every night. I will always remember the stench that was CBGBs.
Needless to say I preferred the Kitchen. Anyway - it was during that time that we played Max’s Kansas City - the week it closed. Now CBGBs is closing. But we’ll be able to take our grandchildren there - in Vegas.
Based in NYC, but resources all over the place
I just finished a report for a client on ‘Virtual Companies’. I have run all my companies from my home - since day one - and am currently utilizing resources in India, New Zealand, Italy, Germany and the Bay Area.
So it was great to read that ALL of Fred Wilson’s portfolio companies are doing the same. hey’re all ‘based’ in NYC, but have engineering talent scattered to the wind.
Sounds sensible to me.
I couldn’t work any other way.
Not only is Paolo the #1 Paolo is Google, Yahoo, etc. - but his car has made it into the Google maps satelite database.
Here it is - in the parking lot at his office in Gorizia - which is right on the borfder with Slovenia.

[...] Great NY photo of the CBGB club from Marc Canter, who confirms its closing. It was new before new wave–soon to be laid to rest. [...]
