Back from Europe after two weeks away

OK my aggregator now has over 5,000 unread posts, I’ve got lots of tell you about and I’m gonna start off with a page of videos from the mashup* event we did in London on Sept. 21st.

Tariq Krim, me, Sam Sethi, a guy from BT named Stephen Stokols and Simon Grice - the host - presented on ‘digital lifestyle aggregators.  It was fun calling NetVibes a DLA.  Tariq didn’t quite agree - buit that’s OK.

Simon and I then did a panel of DLAs at the CrossMediaWeek event in Amsterdam - last week.  By the end - the Marc and Simon show really had wheels.

NetVibes is ‘just’ a private page, while many DLAs focus on heir public face - such as VOX.  Funny - cause Pageflakes just announced public facing pages.  They even have a competition about it.

So here are a bunch of video clips from that evening - two weeks ago.

Its wonderful to see the phrase DLA get picked up.  Vox, MySpace, LiveJournal, eTribes, NetVibes, Pageflakes, PeopleAggregator - all have different aspects of the DLA idea.  Needless to say Microsoft Windows Live Spaces, Yahoo, AOL and Google have similar ideas as well.

[...] Override seems a lot like BT Contact - which was shown two weeks ago in London at the mashup* I participated in.  Both represent (to me IMHO) a next generation of DLA (digital lifestyle aggregator) designed for the PIM/AOL set.  How strange that as we see all these local versions of the old dial-up service get sold off, that the next generation mid-level user AOL gets born. When you don’t post, you make reading difficult for those of us who need to read the things you point out. It’s good to see you’ve uncovered some time to read and post after your most recent round of conferences and visits.

    Hi,

We have launched the new version of Pageflakes 2 days ago. Needless to
say that I am very excited. Many new features and applications have been
added and the whole interface has undergone a major facelift. Publishing
or sharing pages is much easier now, the selection of templates (ready
to use themes, e.g. sports, finance, etc.) is now online and we are
adding new language support every week (English and German available
now, followed by Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian and Turkish soon).

Please check out the new Pageflakes at http://www.pageflakes.com and let me
    know your thoughts and feedback.

Some reviews about the new version:

Of course, I’d be thrilled if you spread the word and setup a public or
shared page. Maybe you can also write a little review on your Blog.

    Thanks for your support.

    Best regards
