building the open web one bit at a time

Links for a Sunday morning

29,549 - that’s the number fo videos YouTube just took down.  It’s begun.

The dashboard wars continue.  Pageflakes has now released a version which publishes public pages.  Oh my.  You mean they’re officially turning into a DLA now?  Can’t wait to see what Tariq and company come up with - to equal them.  The batle of Pageflakes and NetVibes - is being funded by Benchmark and Accel.  And since both those companies fund WeeWorld - look for cutie pie avatars to appear - in both.

Who’s gonna buy Yahoo.  I don’t think it’ll be Time-Warner, but that doesn’t mean you can’t gossip about it.

Poor Robert Scoble is upset cause Diggnation has theme music, attitude, sexy geeky dudes rambling on like Wayne’s World - and apparently is making money. Whatever.  I just wanna find the old hippie, dope smoking leftie video bloggers - where are they?  Each to his own.

Meanwhile Rafat is looking for an HD setup top watch the World Series.  WOULD SOMEBODY INVITE THIS MAN OVER TO WATCH TV!

Gotta check out Paint.net.

Glad to see Fred Wilson agrees with me in regards to humans and faces.  Fred goes further: “At the end of the day it’s about people”.

Why does Oracle need to close the streets in SF?  Aren’t the 1,000,000s of square footage inside Moscone enough?  Sees like Gavin Newsom will do anything to keep Larry happy.

danah pitches her benefactors - good to see who supports danahAnd Howard and Mimi are being taken care of too.  But wait!  Where’s some money for Clay?

XSPF player

Doc finally made it into his new crib - next door.

I met the TrustedPlaces guys in London. They seem like nice enough blokes.

First invisibility cloak.  I wonder if my friend Max Whitby had anything to do with this?  He’s at the Imperial College as well.

JibJab keeps joking on.

Organization to pay Debian developers begins work - ah you mean they want reliable, professionally written code.  Doesn’ sound so strange to me.

I bet in pageflakes, they gave a very interesting answer to netvibes with their new 2.0 system that was launched a few days ago. Now let’s see what netvibes will do to answer it too. The race is really nice, and it will make startpages even better. War ! That moves the world…
