Vox#3 - New distribution channels = render RSS in Vox

As I was cruising through Vox I noticed that Scobleizer and Om were there - but they hadn’t posted anything.  Obviously they had been invited in - but were too busy with their ‘day jobs’ to worry about posting on Vox.

So I started thinking about these new kind of publishing empires and how they’re going to achieve maximum exposure.  With each new brand and publishing effort - there comes anotehr community, set of emdai items, levels of interaction and a WHOLE lot of ambition and dreams.

Dan Farber left out PodTech - but they’re partnering with us at PeopleAggregator and I know - for sure - that they are a new kind of publishing empire that’s gonna be hard to beat.  PodTech will show Adam Curry et al - how it’s done.

So why can’t PodTech or Om or Rafat Ali or Arrington or Nick Denton use new systems like Vox - to be new kinds of distribution channels?  Why can’t we finally connect the blogging tool to the community - but NOT prevent others from playing along as well?

One one side you got these guys customizing their tools, honing in their ad networks and work flow tools - and flowing it all out via RSS (or ricocheting via Feedburner on the way.)  On teh otehr hand you have ‘networks’ like Vox or Blogger/Blogspot who offer lots of coolio value - but only to folks who use their tools.

So why can’t one take an RSS feed - and flow that into a Vox account?  Wouldn’t that connect our worlds together?  Wouldn’t that make it easier for Om, Robert, Rafat, Michael or Nick to both continue their brands but also play along?

Is that much more than having SixApart take an RSS feed and render it?  Yes - I think it is.  But that would certainly be a start.

Like everything in Vox - SixApart has been taking long legged, long term features and dumbing them down - so they can get them out NOW.  ALL of the topics in this 10 post series will cover something that can be be done BETTER - but at least its being done.

So I propose that SixApart support RSS - right now - and let Om, Robert, Rafat, Nick Douglas and Mr. Arrington flow their blogs through the Vox neighborhoods.

  4. Look even Tribe was able to put up an RSS “in” module, why can’t VOX, that would be a great feature to quickly let us connect our blogs to this new cool environment.
