building the open web one bit at a time

Back from Seattle - Clean up links

Jeremy Zawodny is totally skinny now.  His diet definitely worked!

Dave Winer heard from John Furrier that Bob Wyman was closing down PubSub

RSS Days

Valleywag is a mean old fart - even though he’s actuially pretty young.  But at least he escaped the Nick Denton layoffs.  I guess that means being a mean old fart is profitable (which should not surprise anybody.)

Google is starting to spend some of its money on contests.  Coolio.

Rafat Ali and PaidContent.org got funded. I can’t remember if I blogged that already - but here it is again.

Recent investments from Josh Koppelman and First Round Capital.  Congrats to Paul Martino.

Scoble reports that Gnomedex was coolio, but that Sen. John Edwards should have stuck around.  I agree.

Hah!  Scoble wouldn’t let me bring my posse to his party, and now he has extra food!  Robert - NEVER doubt my party instincts or my ability to judge the people:food ratio.

ccCreators - another place to go and share.  I think they need a social network.  :-)  Gee now who can sell them one?

Mark Graham has been busy earning his salary with his new bosses.  Perhaps NOW they’ll get some resources back onto the Tribe.net team and support our open standards.  Mark - BTW - is the guy who introduced me to Mark Pincus and the world has not been the same - ever since.

  1. Marc, yeah, sorry, but we didn’t end up with that much food. Actually just gave it to the people who cleaned our house and they appreciated it very much.

  4. Marc, *I* am not shutting PubSub down. It isn’t mine to shut down. If, or when, it shuts down, someone else will have done it — not me.
You should know me well enough to know that if it was my choice, PubSub would not only stay up but get back to the business of building new and innovative services. I spent over 20 years planning to build PubSub. There is no way that I would let it go down if keeping it up was in my power.
