Question confusion and clarification

Turns out Jay Rosen wasn’t asking “what does any of this have to do with blogging?” rather (in his own words - in the comment he left) he was asking:

“I wanted to know (as in being curious) what the connection was between blogging and people venting their frustrations about the Web, vendors and software generally.”

Unfortunately that question never made it out and was not discussed.  Despite all the best intentions and superior structure and attitude - even the best un-conference cannot cover all that should or could be covered.

I myself don’t see any difference between the web and the blogosphere - but I guess that’s pretty echo chamber-like.  Jay comes from a world of academia and asking questions like that (I guess) spurns interesting dialectic.  But what I heard was a statement claiming that the blogosphere should be or is different, separate or [insert adjective here].  I just don’t see it like that.

The blogosphere IS the web.

Meanwhile lots of great conversations didn’t happen - but some great grooves are better than lots of boring drivel (which apparently is what was going on over at Supernova.  More of the same old same old.)

I myself was almost completely shut off of anything I wanted to talk about.

I attempted a feable commercial gesture, just to remind people that we’re shipping a product, but there was more going on over at BarCamp that falls into my world - than at Bloggercon.

Ben Metcalfe was talking about a Citizen Agency API clearing house and Thor chaired a session on SCRAPI.

All in all it was quite a weekend of fun, though that’s NOTHING compared to the shit we’re cooking up here at our worldwide offsite.  Gaurav and Ashish are in from Gurgaon and Paolo is here from Treiste, while we’ve been chatting with Martin in Germany and Phil sitting ’round a pool in Tahiti. Marc Senasac is making last minute changes and finally is able to show G&A what the UI is SUPPOSED to look like.

Paolo finally got a chance to complain to MarcS and I went for a dip in the pool - which is PERFECT right now.

I suddently realized today that we’re gonna run out of t-shirts and I’m already planning new swag - for BBM India.

In the mean time - 1,000’s of invites are going out tomorrow and we’ll make sure there are some nets up and running by launch.

Me too for admitting that I am a developer. Weren’t you the one who came up with the idea for the alternative to Supernova? . . . (I ask, knowingly).
