What is OpenLaszlo, and what’s it good for?
Don Hopkins, a close friend who I partied with in Amsterdam recently - has been Slashdotted on his EXCELLENT article about my favorite rich media interface technology - Laszlo.
Don goes over what it is, how to use it, major concepts, and just about explains everything you’ll need to know to make an intelligent decision on which user interface platform to go for.
What Don DIDN’T say - and that’s because he’s not a marketing guy - is that on top of outputting .swf and D HTML - Laszlo will also be outputting (formerly known as Avalon)WPF & XAML stuff for Microsoft’s upcoming Vista platform.
In other words - you can make an investment in Laszlo today and then use that same source with D HTML or future Microsoft platforms - tomorrow.
This is just ONE reason I’m dedicated to helping out Laszlo.

This commentary makes me want to avoid Lazlo. If Lazlo is attempting to generate SWF, DHTML, and XAML I very much doubt it will end up being the best and most usable tool for any of these presentation formats.
