Joga: soccer site for Americans
Somebody really needs to tell Nike and Google that it’s not called soccer - but football - everywhere in the world, but the U.S.
So that means that this site is just for Americans.

That seems really weird to me and says that this is not a real Google site, but one of those “20% playing around” sites. Why would an International brand create a site just for Americans.
Why put a picture of Ronaldo up there? What happened to the ‘Miracle U.S. female team?’
And they mention “the world”. So why would anybody in the world want to join a site for Soccer - when it’s really called Football?
And shouldn’t a company like Nike - know that? Yet another example of American, isolationist, close minded thinking.
The whole thing reaks of ‘experiment’. And whatever happened to the lawsuit between Google and Affinity Engines - over Orkut? Their ‘other’ social network experiment.

ironically in australia soccer is called soccer as AFL is football… but if u r in Sydney football means rugby, and then there’s union and league. but basically soccer is the third football here, so we call it soccer. not that i want to align with McDonalds on this one

Where are you accessing the site from? The US? Does it serve the same text globally? I’m guessing Nike and Google have versions for every country. Could be wrong but I can’t imagine them not having country specific veriosns of the site.

Looks like the site is in multiple languages as this is a Russian version of it. Way to jump to conclusions…

“Yet another example of American, isolationist, close minded thinking”
…sounds kind of isolationist and close minded.

Yet another ignorant rant from Marc Canter.
Try choosing a different region/language. Where “soccer” is called “football” the site calls it “football”. If you choose “North America” and “English” the site will call it “soccer”.

Note the top of the page says that it’s brought to you by “Google and NIKEFOOTBALL.COM”…hmmm…
