Marqui lands $7.5M
It’s great to hear that my friend’s at Marqui have caked themselves up to the tune of $7.5M.
It seems that the one thing the company is still known for is the marketing campaign where we paid paid bloggers to blog. The companie’s hits in Google went sky rocket as we gamefully manipulated Jason Calcanis and Stowe Boyd into a heated frenzy complaining of our techniques.
In those days - Marqui was NOT a blogging tool.
But it’s success in the blogosphere more or less forced them into becoming “Yet another blogging tool”. They still have this ‘work flow’ layer around it - making it ‘easy to use’ for corporate types.
So congrats to Janet and Stephen and the other folks at Marqui.
Now who the hell dreamed up that crazy campaign and ran it for them?
Oh yah - me. I guess it worked. [via Richard MacManus]

Cheers, Marc (and Lisa!), for your help in setting up and running the Marqui paybloggers campaign. We still credit much of the success of our campaign to your basic building blocks of absolute transparency, honesty and open communications. Thank you for your guidance. Cheers…
