Making the scene at Mashup Camp
Speaking of old guys, here’s a bunch of us old timers at the Mashup Camp scene.

In order - left to right - there’s Steve Gillmor (looking down), Dan Gillmor standing up, Bob Frankston (head turned - taking a shot of me and Dave), Dave Winer - standing up and me - smiling.
And what a scene it was. I got home (after a beautiful Chinese meal) and have a cold. The youth and deep geeks - were out in force at the Computer Museum and all the major API vendors (Amazon, Google, eBay Yahoo) were in attendance.
Did you know that 45% of all of eBay’s listings come in through their APIs?
We met and talked about two ambitious projects - one a documentation project which would attempt at standardizing and normalising API documentation. eBay has something they’re willing to share with others.
Meanwhile Ross Mayfield led a session on standardizing contracts - and business terms. Talk about ambitious!
I just want to standardize on terms - as even the term ‘open source’ is not clear. Now go and try and define SLA (service level agreement) or specification.
It sure was weird to have Jonathan Schwartz giving away a Sun server in the former offices/showcase building of SGI. I was telling a friend we were there and he said: “the moment SGI got that building - I knew they we dead.” How true!
David Berlind and Doug Gold did a great job at ‘throwing’ this whole thing together. I sure am looking forward to the next one! Congrats dudes. [photos by Dan Farber]

Being a man (and having seen pictures of melon sex) I don’t have any trouble believing that the sticky business took place as described.
