John Perry Barlow is back
I didn’t want to blog this until he publicly posted something - but it was reassuring to hear from John Perry Barlow - on his famous BarlowFriendz list this week.
He’d been absent for a while - but he’s back and at least TWO of his daughters are by his side.
ATTENTION young geeks - these babes are the ones you want. Famous, smart - they compete with Tim O’Reilly’s daughter as the celeb geek babe daughter you wanna marry - to get the inside track. It used to be that one would want to marry into some banker or doctor’s family.
But who wouldnt want John Perry Barlow as a father-in-law?
I can’t wait to see who Bill Gate’s daughter marries. Can you imagine sitting around their XMas tree on Xmas day:
“Oh Dad - you didn’t have to buy me an island……..”
While at the Barlow family home, they’d be saying things like:
“Gee Dad - 100 shares of good Kharma - what can I do with that?”

It’s really nice hear John Perry Barlow talking about the beauty of free software… and then watch him using a non-free plataform such as Mac OS on his own laptop.

Maybe he wanted to get some work done? Or play a sound file? Or edit a photo using software that has a manual? Or maybe he wanted to fire up a shell and use gcc to compile the latest MySQL driver for Ruby? All things are possible.

Isn’t FREE meant to be all about choice?
Mr Barlow’s daughters are lovely and they’ll make some geek happy one day. The man himself is very verbose and an extremely entertaining writer. It would, however, be crap realising that your father in law was immensely cooler than you.
and he could probably dance better too….
