The Canter Towers

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

Aron and Jacob are the stars of the Brandeis Hillel Basketball team.
Here’s Aron going up for a rebound, while Jake watches.
They won against St. Thomas The Apostle 64-62. Great game.
It seems like yesterday that we were laying hoops in the backyard. I taught them to be tough, to drive hard to the [...]

After thinking about Ebisu (when we ate at Ton Kiang tonight) I remembered that we took some photos when we were together last year for Northern Voice.

Start.com, NetVibes and customization

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

O’Reilly conferences are pretty much the traditional balance of women and (so called) minorities.

At Web 2.0 last week, I cornered the high-energy, super-sharp Valerie Cunningham about AlwaysOn’s just-announced OnHollywood summit — a gathering of the best and brightest in the movie and tech industries, coming to Hollywood on April 25-27, 2006.
Here’s Valerie’s 2 1/2-minute description of the conference (in MPEG-4). (Ourmedia page | watch video)
From the [...]

Only Apple would put out a Media Center without a tuner card

Sunday, November 20th, 2005

Idon’t get how Apple’s Front-row is a media center - if it doesn’t have a TV tuner in it?
It reminds me of Job’s NeXT machine with no floppy.
I guess they’ll wait til some hardware developer puts all their sweat, energy and equity into building and releasing one - and then they’ll just copy it, rip [...]

After a long wait - it’s here.
LaszloMail.
I’ll be referrng to this for a whole time for a number of reasons.
First of all - everyone loves it.
Second of all - it rocks. And even YOU can build something like this. Just check out OpenLaszlo.
Third of all - it’s not authored with a timeline, yet [...]
