Open source SMS platform

I just got an email from someone named Anu Nigam - who sent me a link to something called 411Sync.

It’s a way for any web service to tie into SMS and get their data sent to cell phones.

OH MY GOD - you mean open source has come to mobile services? And I found out about it BEFORE Russell Beattie?

Tee hee hee.
:-)
Or Christian Lindholm?
:-) Congrats to Anu - this seems to rock the house pretty heavily. Something else to talk about in tomorrow’s workshop on ‘open source infrastructure’.

This is awesome. I went to their website and created my own service. This service provides jobs in the SF bay area.

I mashed together Craigslist and 411sync. This is what I got listed under:

    http://411sync.com/cgi-bin/news_login.cgi#anchor6

I used the service from my Cingular phone. Sent an SMS to sms@411sync.com with keyword “jobssfbay” and I got the results.

This is cool. Now, I can create my own services and make them visible on cell phone.

    Thanks Anu !!
