Yahoo buys Upcoming.org

So I was sitting in this meeting at Yahoo last month and I was bitching about the lack of integration of calendaring into Y! 360 and all I got back was “Yup - we need to work on that.”

And they did.

They bought UpComing.

Don’t you just love to watch this all unfold? I sure hope they’ll help us create ‘OpenEvents’ now. I’m sure Ethan Stock of Zvents will be thrilled. And Peter Caputa of WhizSpark. Now I just gotta find out what Brian Dear of EVDB thinks.

Well we’ll have plenty of time to talk about it tomorrow - in our workshop together. And since Toni Schneider of Yahoo will be in the workshop - we can ask him if they’ll support OpenEvents - as well.

Waxy (Andy Baio) is elegant and arrticulate (as usual) in his blog post abouit the purchase. Now I hope they get on with the purchase of XXXX (sorry I can’t tell you or else I’d have to kill you.) But GOOD LUCK LUCAS - is all I can say!
