Rich Internet Apps

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

Luckily some of us (like Dan Farber and myself) have been around long enough to know that the latest buzzword du jour - Ajax - is really just the next iteration of what has been called ‘Rich Internet Apps (by Macromedia.)
We used to call it ‘Rich Media Apps’.
Anyway - whatever you call it - we [...]

Putting what I said into context

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

Liz Lawley points to an Evelyn Rodriguez quote from me at Blogher:
Although Marc’s heart is in the right place, his suggestion that BlogHers create our own list, our own companies and tell the guys to fuck off…is ultimately simply playing the game by the same old (tired, not wired) rules. (Guys aren’t the real issue; [...]

Mike Homer buys an interview in Business 2.0 - NOT

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

If yah wanna see how corporate and journalistic transparency works and how the old boy network operates - check out John Battelle’s excuses - here.
For some reason I actually believe John - though I’m not sure I believe Mike when he says that ‘licensing Kontiki’ to the Open Media Network is anything more than a [...]

Flickr keeps marching forward

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

So Flickr has announced some new features.
Regardless of WHAT the features are - what’s significant is that they haven’t stopped cranking out new functionality - just cause they’re all millionaires (now that Yahoo has bought them.)
Now THAT’s dedication to your community for yah!

This new [...]

Why is Macromedia so slimey?

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

OK so first they ripped off Laszlo. Stone cold ripped them off (it’s called Flex.)
Then we found out about their secret backdoor in Flash and lord knows what they’re doing with it (actually a couple of things have come out about that.)
And NOW they’re adding items to folks’ shopping carts without them knowing about [...]

It’s bloodey time time for some more bloodey Links

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

So now I’m in England, out by Reading in a small town called Wokingham. Time to clear out the Link queue:
It’s great to hear about Ask Jeeves ad network. We need more systems like this - so we don’t all have to rely upon Googleand Yahoo.
Omn Malik is seeing some dark side of [...]

Karen Luk - yet another amazing woman I met at BlogHer

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

I had the pleasure and delight to meet and talk with Karen Luk - who works on the Spaces.MSN team at Microsoft.
With only 8 people on the team - and 15M blogs - even if they only made $1 a year off of each blog - that still comes out to almost $500k per employee [...]

Identity 2.0: “when Microsoft has figured it out, you know its day has come.”

Monday, August 1st, 2005

Great article in Wired.com about Identity 2.0.
Our GoingOn Network will be such a beast - enabling all sorts of new interop, movement and control over profile data and in general - connecting different systems and people together.
I owe thanks to Owen Davis, Fen Labalme, Drummond Reed, Dick Hardt, Doc Searls, Kaliya Hamlin, Andre Durand, Eric [...]
