Saturday, August 27th, 2005

In our efforts to be friend to all, we’re undertaking a survey of ALL existing Events and Reviews schemas.
This is for the purpose of creating an open source tool which will support ALL formats - as I’ve never met a customer who cares about what’s under the hood.
Bob Wyman has this theory that if you [...]

Speaking of strapping young men, we’re building software for these dudes.

My 3 sons.
They’re our users.
It’s incumbant to us to make sure our standards, protocols and code - rocks the house.
I can’t wait to get Dave involved in some of our efforts. Like ourmedia.org.

Dave’s Back

Friday, August 26th, 2005

Did I ever tell yah the story of sitting next to Dave Winer and watching him explain the Frontier object database to me?
All sorts of bells started going off in my head as Dave showed how a CMS, coupled to a scripting langauge could spit out HTML pages. I pointed to the exact point [...]

Back from Vacation

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

Had a great time in Michigan, however I got a bitching cold.

My brother told me he found out that I was around, simply by reading my blog. He’s doing some work connecting legal review of documents to some new technology automation systems.

Don’t do it Russ - you’re better than that

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

It was somewhat gratifying to read that Russell Beattie had been blown off by the inside cliquers at O’Reilly.
The more and more I look around our industry - what I see are closed minded, cliquish, echo chamber people - perpetuating their own pet projects. I really love the people who COME to O’Reilly events [...]

Letter from BigDave Jacobs

Tuesday, August 16th, 2005

Hi everybody,
Most of you know I suffer from Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). But you may not know that PKD is the most common, genetic life-threatening disease affecting 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million people worldwide. Amazingly, that is twice the size of multiple sclerosis and PKD affects more people than cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, sickle cell [...]
