Letter from BigDave Jacobs

Hi everybody,

Most of you know I suffer from Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). But you may not know that PKD is the most common, genetic life-threatening disease affecting 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million people worldwide. Amazingly, that is twice the size of multiple sclerosis and PKD affects more people than cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, sickle cell anemia, hemophilia and Down’s syndrome…combined. Pretty startling facts considering almost nobody has every heard of this disease.

I can tell you that PKD is an insidious disease that takes your life away, a millimeter at a time. First you count the bad days but you find after a few years you start counting the good days…and they become few and far apart.

Fortunately, my salvation came on December 3, 2004, when I received a kidney transplant from a living, unrelated donor. I’m doing great and am looking forward to making a difference in the future. I don’t want anyone else, especially my children, to suffer like I have.

That’s why this year I’m am walking to raise funds to find a cure for PKD. Researchers believe PKD can be stopped in the next ten years and you too can make a difference by supporting my ‘Walk for PKD’campaign.

Last year I wanted to walk, but I was to sick. This year, I am eager to get started and I need your help! It is faster and easier than ever to make a secure donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message.

Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your help and will keep you posted on my progress. Go ahead and click NOW.

From myself, my family and everyone living with PKD…thank you for your support!

Bigdave
