Groups live @ ourmedia.org
When I first encountered Drupal and I was amazed at all it had - but I also immediately noticed that their definition of ’social community software’ was different from mine.
So after we launched ourmedia.org, FIRST on my list of things to add to Drupal - was Groups. Real Groups. Like Tribe Tribes or Orkut Groups.
To me - this is key to any successful social networking software.
Then when I went to the Drupalcon in Antwerp I met a guy named Moshe Weitzman who had started an ‘organic group’ module for Drupal.
“Ah” I said - “a great start!”
So we hired Moshe to flesh out his Groups module and then we got Tekriti to amp it up more and now - finally we’re live with Groups in ourmedia.org. This oughta change things - allot.
So go forth and spontaneously form into loosely coupled Groups - all you digital creators. And don’t forget to have fun, share and communicate.
Needless to say - ALL Drupal systems can now share and benefit from this module. Dan Gillmor can have Bayosphere Groups. Kaliya can have spiratual Groups. Civcspace can have civil Groups.
Oh and come and join the ‘BBM Love’ group and show us some love.

Segway Inc. is searching for a Drupal Developer to work on an assignment to upgrade our present Drupal Content Management System to version 4.7.3, configure message board functionality and ensure overall stability and performance in order to facilitate information between Segway and its distributors and dealers networks.
- Upgrade and configure extranet built on the Drupal 4.3 platform to version 4.7.
- Create information architecture
- Assign roles/members
- Enable batch uploading
- Create a “Discussion” section for our domestic dealers and international distributors.
- Bug fix during testing phase.
- Document instructions on how to add/modify/remove content categories, items, users and groups.
Qualifications: Able to work on a contract basis 1-3 months, solid understanding of Drupal site implementation & customization. 1-2 years of PHP/Drupal development experience customizing and updating from Drupal version prior to 4.7 to make current. Substantial expertise in PHP, mySQL, and Apache server admin. A proven knack for troubleshooting and creative problem solving. 2+ years working web development for clients.
