Snowcrash reviewed
Who said you can’t review a 13 year old book and make it seem fresh and hip?
That’s what Jason Kottke did with Snowcrash.
I actually bought cases of this book and gave it away to friends. Itr was all but required reading at SGI back in the day (’92-’94) - back when SGI was the coolest place to work at - anywhere.
In fact this book directly parallels my ‘post-Macromedia’ life as it came out - just as I was leaving. I remember writing…..
“Stephenson achieves in the first 3 pages of Snowcrash - what Wm. Gibson was never able to achieve - a believeable cyberspace.”
Adam Curry named his web site - Metaverse - after Snowcrash. I know - I was there - I helped him name it.
OK - here’s a surprise quiz: “Did you know that SixApart has been shipping RVW support in their Lists feeds?”
Now you know.
Congrats to Alf Eaton on that one.
