I’m off of Scoble’s list
So Scoble gets together this whole blogging dinner with Jim Allchin and I wasn’t invited.
They talked about Longhorn and the Windows Home Media Center. Thank God Doug Kaye and Thomas Hawk were there.
Back when I WAS on Scoble’s list - he and his boss Lenn Pryor - got me into the Longhorn PDC ‘03. That’s when I realized that Microsoft was validating many of our theories of islands connecting together into a archipelago of functionality and community.
Longhorn’s vast futuristic vision has been methodically prodding along for several years now. By telescoping out so far in advance MS was able to inform us enough - to get properly prepared.
We’re going to mesh right into MS and vice versa. Their lumbering giant dinosaur footsteps will give us small furry creatures plenty of time to get out from underneath.
And who survived the ice age - anyway? [John Perry Barlow quote…]
Also with InfoCards being announced - the mechanism to do all this is starting to appear. I wonder is Ev asked him about that?
Well anyway I won’t hide my dissappointment of not being invited - even though I was in Seoul all week - getting cyber soul. That’s perhaps one of the things MS and Allchin are missing about the future - how much the International community will play a part in all this.
The future is being crafted up in Redmond anymore - it’s on the streets of Lan Kwan Fung, Itaewon and Akihabara. In Trieste, Reading and Amsterdam. And DEFINITELY in Banglore, Delhi and Bulgaria.
Anyway - I hereby publicly officially request an audience with his majesty. In addition to kissing his ring magnificently - I promise to make great suggestions on how Microsoft can participate in open standards - along with Yahoo, Google and Amazon.
We’ll even let Microsoft help sponsor ourmedia.org. But only if they’re nice and they take me out to a great restaurant.
POSTSCRIPT: Hah! I knew it! All I had to do was complain and I’d get put back on. Thanks Robert! And keep me in mind - maybe we can meetup at the Hotel Okura - which is teh only place I’d even meet with Sculley or Jean-Louis - or at Loic’s party in Paris or maybe at some Fish & Chips micro-content dinner.
